Staying Fit at Home

Sometimes, life gets hectic and its hard to get to the gym. Hey, we’ve all been there before! If you’re like most people, you don’t have workout equipment just laying around the house. Most of the exercises you find on the web might require dumbbells or resistance bands. There’s good news if you don’t have any of these laying around the house just yet: All you need is your very own body weight to create the resistance that you need to create the resistance to keep your muscles toned on those days that you can’t make it to the gym.

Skipping the gym doesn’t mean that you have to skip leg day. Doing squats is one of the best ways to tone your glutes and hamstrings when weights and machines aren’t present.

Strengthening your core is one of those crucial things to working out. Your core strength is at the heart of building muscle. The best way to do that, with or without a gym is planking. Put your weight on both of your forearms and balance on your toes while keeping your back completely straight in the air. Do this for an extended amount of time to strengthen your core.

If it’s arm day and you’re at a loss for how to compensate for not being able to go to the gym, doing push-ups at angle can help with your upper-body strength. Incline push ups are done when you perform pushups by placing your arms on an elevated surface. Decline push ups are the opposite. Place your feet on an elevated and perform pushups. Pushups target your pectorals, trapezoids, and deltoids. Incline pushups, however, focus more on your lower chest and back as well. Whereas, decline pushups target your upper chest and shoulders.

Not going to the gym doesn’t mean you have to skip out on fitness. Keep your workout streak going by trying these at home! Of course, you can also do these at the gym. Talk to a personal trainer who can teach how to do these exercises correctly.
